Tramhuis

The Old Tram House is the former station building of the RTM (Rotterdam Tramway Company). It has been completely dismantled, carefully restored, and transformed into the first kiosk for city walks.

Right in the heart of Rotterdam, the smallest Rotterdam icon shines once again in all its glory. Built in 1914, the Art Nouveau Tramhuis served as a modern shelter for tram passengers. The slender building miraculously survived the 1940 bombing and was subsequently relocated several times during the city's reconstruction. After various relocations, the Tramhuis became a restaurant in the 1970s and ended up as a nightclub and kebab shop. This did the structure, made entirely of lightweight steel and glass, no good. At the initiative of Stadsherstel Rotterdam and Droom en Daad, the building was completely dismantled, meticulously restored, and transformed into the first kiosk for city walks.
