The Hofboogs

The longest building in the Netherlands

Discover the urban hotspots of Rotterdam

It happens in Rotterdam North. In the arches under this former railway line you will find Food & Drinks, Fashion and Design. Everything delicious, Rotterdam-style.

History

The Hofbogen, officially the Hofplein viaduct, is part of the former train connection (Hofplein line) between Rotterdam Hofplein, The Hague and Scheveningen. For a century, trains ran over the Hofbogen between Rotterdam and Scheveningen. This has been history since 2010 and the longest monumental building in the Netherlands winds through North Rotterdam. The arches under the old railway viaduct now contain approximately 2 kilometers of design, fashion and food & drinks. Dozens of creative entrepreneurs have settled here. So no brand stores and large chains, but small specialty stores with special products, run by real Rotterdammers. When the weather is good, the catering establishments open their sun-drenched terraces. Events on the roof of Hofplein Station and the Italian restaurant Happy Italy in Bergweg Station complete the picture.
