Blijdorp Zoo

Officially, Diergaarde Blijdorp is called the Royal Rotterdam Zoo Foundation. Blijdorp Zoo covers 34 hectares, which is why we have different addresses.

About Blijdorp Zoo

Diergaarde Blijdorp is located in the Blijdorp district in North Rotterdam. Stroll across the African Savannah and come face to face with the giraffes. Visit gorilla Bokito and his family, walk on the seabed in the fully covered Oceanium and meet stingrays and sharks. Walk through the largest butterfly paradise in Europe: Amazonica, full of wonderfully scented flowers, thousands of South American butterflies, anacondas and biting piranhas.

Guided tours in Blijdorp Zoo

It is possible to book tours and packages. During a tour, an expert guide shows you places while walking that visitors normally do not visit.

Accessibility

Diergaarde Blijdorp is easily accessible by public transport and by car. The zoo is a 15-minute walk from Rotterdam Central Station. From CS, bus 33 (towards Meijersplein or Rotterdam The Hague Airport) and bus 44 (towards Zuidplein) also go to Blijdorp. Still by car? On the A20, take the 'Blijdorp' exit.
