Jeroen Veenstra

Skating at a skating rink is much easier than skating on natural ice these days. Here in Rotterdam, you can.

Blijdorp Zoo

Till 18 January, part of Diergaarde Blijdorp transforms into a sparkling winter landscape full of nature and wonder for the first time. The highlight of Winters Blijdorp is the Rabobank skating rink, where young and old can have fun together on the ice. The skating rink is 20 by 10 metres and completely covered. It is not allowed to bring your own skates, they can be rented for 5 euros. On 19, 20, 26 and 27 December and 2 and 3 January, the Zoo will also be open in the evenings.

Plaswijckpark

As part of Winterwijck, visitors can skate at Plaswijck Park 's ice rink until 1 March. Director of Plaswijckpark Fred Nijveld said. "It is wonderful to see families enjoying themselves together, skating, playing, eating something tasty or just relaxing in the winter sunshine. The park oozes cosiness at this time of year."

The skating rink can be found next to the Pavilion on the Lake. Only artificial or ice hockey skates are allowed on the rink, and there are also free skates to borrow and double irons for toddlers. Gloves are compulsory on the ice. Forgotten? At Pannenkoeken aan de Plas they are on sale for 3.50 euros.
