In, on, and under water in Rotterdam
Find coolness by the many waters in Rotterdam. Of course, you can look out over the water. But water also naturally invites recreation. Waterskiing, wakeboarding, swimming, surfing and supping. You can do it here.
Swimming
Swimming in outdoor water is not allowed everywhere, no matter how tempting it looks. It is allowed at Rijnhaven around the floating park near Antoine Platekade within the demarcated area. Kralingse Plas is also safe again, after frequent problems with blue-green algae in previous years. At the Zevenhuizerplas, off Nesselande, swimmers can also enter the water. Of course, you can step straight into the North Sea from the Hoek van Holland beach.
There are three swimming pools in Rotterdam for outdoor swimming. The Van Maanenbad is the only pool in the city centre to have an outdoor pool. The shallow end is 18 metres long and the deep end 25 metres. There is also a sunbathing area and an artificial turf field with goals and baskets, two table tennis tables and a playground.
The outdoor pool at 8 Van Maan Street is open when the water temperature is at least 18 degrees. According to these opening hours:
Monday 14:00 - 15:30
Tuesday 10:00 - 13:00
Wednesday 12:00 - 13:00
Thursday 12:00 - 15:00
Friday 12:00 - 15:00
Saturday 12:00 - 13:00
Sunday 08:45 - 10:45 hours
On Saturdays and Sundays, the outdoor pool is also open between 1pm and 5pm if the weather is nice. This is indicated via the site.
A 25-metre pool with five lanes can be found in Pernis. The pool at Ring 220 is open until August. There is a large sunbathing area and the pool is wheelchair accessible. The schedule can be accessed via the site.
The swimming pool in Hoek van Holland at Cordesstraat 160 is also called the Hoekse Badje. The outdoor pool with a wide slide next to it is open according to this schedule until August.
In 2023, Arttenders designed the pool at the request of the Municipality of Rotterdam and gave it a new look. Franky Sticks and Cindy Bakker both made the design and of Arttenders X Cindy Bakker (with colours inspired by the 1960s, when the pool opened, and a line pattern referring to the typical beach chairs and parasol) was chosen as the winner.

Waterskiing and wakeboarding
Get carried away. AtProject 7 Cablepark in Nesselande (Kosboulevard 3), water lovers do not hang behind a boat, but are pulled across the water using a cableway. The cablepark consists of a waterski cableway that pulls several water skiers simultaneously across the water. In case of a fall, the shore is nearby to try again immediately. For advanced wakeboarders, challenging obstacles await.

Surfing
It has been possible to surf downtown at RiF010 for a year now. A long-forgotten piece of the city is now a unique destination for surfing. A right-handed wave runs on the reef on which 8-9 seconds can be surfed and the waves can be adjusted to different skill levels.
