Hello Darkness specialises in vintage clothing and lifestyle products for the alternative scene

Milena van den Berg is frontwoman of GGGOLDDD, was store manager at Susan Bijl and (quite appropriately on Friday the 13th) opened Hello Darkness on the Nieuwe Binnenweg. The shop specialises in vintage clothing and lifestyle products for the alternative scene.

Milena van den Berg: "Hello Darkness is inspired by the places I feel at home and inspired during tours abroad with my band GGGOLDDD. Alternative and contrarian. You come here to find clothes that fit your identity, to score your new favourite record, to walk away with a zine you didn't know yet but immediately hit, or because you want to dye your hair bright pink."

Hello Darkness is located in the Startersstore - an initiative of the municipality's Vital Core Areas Fund to combat vacancy and make shopping streets more attractive. Alderman Robert Simons (Economy) dropped by to congratulate entrepreneur Milena van den Berg.

Alderman Simons: "Rotterdammers want attractive shopping streets: clean, safe and lively. By tackling vacancies and giving promising entrepreneurs a chance, we strengthen the shopping areas and increase the quality of life in the city. After thoroughly refurbishing this building on the Nieuwe Binnenweg, we are now giving it a new future together with Hello Darkness."

Hello Darkness is open Wednesday to Sunday from 12:00 to 18:00 at Nieuwe Binnenweg 10H.
