On Thursday 30 October we explore climate, space and society during the book launch of Reporting the Delta, with Tracy Metz, cineast Digna Sinke and designers Joost Adriaanse and Ester van de Wiel.
The Dutch delta tells the story of constant struggle, resistance and negotiation between land, water, and people. It is always in motion – from fluctuating tides and historic floods to flows of global trade and engineering mega works.
On Thursday 30 October we explore climate, space and society during the book launch of Reporting the Delta. With film fragments by, among others, George Sluize and Annette Apon and an interactive talk with Tracy Metz, cineast Digna Sinke and designers Joost Adriaanse and Ester van de Wiel (-sea -place -work -land, The New Delta Work) we dive into the history, present and future of the Dutch delta. From a narrative of domination and control to a sense of dynamic entanglement and eco-empathy. Can we rethink our traditional engineering models and our relationship to water in light of fluctuating tides and climate change?
This programme has been developed in collaboration with OMI, Eye Filmmuseum and TU Delft OPEN Publishing. The spoken language for the evening is English.
