Portlantis Experience

On this tour of over 40 kilometers you will experience 100 years of port history and discover the port of tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.

Travel by comfortable coach past Rotterdam's Merwehaven, Waalhaven, Eemhaven, Botlek, Europoort, and Maasvlakte. Enjoy stunning views, including the Erasmus Bridge, the state-of-the-art container terminals, and the enormous seagoing vessels on Maasvlakte 2.

What does the day look like?

The day starts at the Port Pavilion on Leuvehaven in the center of Rotterdam. Residents and visitors to the port city will find information and inspiration here to explore the port and truly get to know it. The eleven-meter-long photo model with interactive projection gives a preview of what you'll encounter during the day trip. From the Port Pavilion, the group will walk for 10 minutes to Willemsplein, at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge. From there, we'll travel by coach straight through the port to Portlantis on Maasvlakte 2. Along the way to Maasvlakte, the port will come to life. Visit Portlantis and take a boat tour

In Portlantis, you'll discover the port of the present and the future. The coach will then take you to the departure point for the cruise. We'll take a cruise on Maasvlakte 2 and experience how everything is big, bigger, and biggest! We'll sail right under the tallest container cranes, encounter the very largest container ships, and pass colossal quay walls. You'll also sail past the offshore company Sif, where, besides enormous foundation piles for offshore wind turbines, you'll also see one of the world's largest wind turbines. And you'll have a view of the expansion of Neste, a producer of renewable biofuels. On board, the Portlantis guide (in Dutch) will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about Europe's most modern and smartest port. Non-Dutch speakers can follow an audio tour on their smartphone. Don't forget your headphones! After the cruise, the coach will depart for Rotterdam.
