No Other Land

After dozens of awards at film festivals worldwide, the gripping documentary No Other Land also won the Oscar for best documentary. The film about the systematic Israeli destruction of settlements in the West Bank deserves all the attention.
In the documentary by Palestinian journalist Basel Adra (1996), he receives help from Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham. The blossoming friendship between the two is the linchpin in this gripping and shocking story about power, abuse of power and powerlessness, which takes place in the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Houses, schools and other living facilities in his native village and in surrounding settlements in the West Bank are systematically destroyed by the Israeli army, to 'make way for military training areas'. In reality, the area is brutally cleared for illegal settlers.
