Meet Up: Het Beeld van de Vrouw in Rotterdam

Come to the 8th Meetup of the Rotterdam Year of the Woman on Tuesday July 8th at Podium Islemunda! The theme is The Image of the Woman.

2025 is the Rotterdam Year of the Woman! Rotterdam will put the spotlight on for 10 months, amplify the voices of and build networks with its women. On Tuesday 8 July we will dive into the theme The Image of the Woman. About image formation, portraying or being, and (thought) images about being a woman, role models and stereotypes.

We look at how women are portrayed and viewed: in the media, online and on the street. What prejudices, ideals, role models and stereotypes exist for and about women? What is being a woman and what image do we have of it? Who creates the image of women? And how can women determine or change that image themselves?

From 16:00 you are most welcome in the foyer of Podium Islemunda. The program starts at 16:30. Including a historical column, interesting guests, a literal and figurative preview in the agenda and of course always a part to get to know each other better!

The Rotterdam Year of the Woman is an idea and initiative of historian Marjan Beijering and designer Anouk van Mil. It is carried out by the Rotterdam City Women Foundation, financially supported by the municipality of Rotterdam, the Rotterdam Women's Fund and the Elise Mathilde Fund. It is supported by a large and ever-growing group of Rotterdam women, organisations and initiatives.
