Kyiv Critics' Week x NL
Kyiv Critics' Week presents a selection of Ukrainian films, chosen by film critics and framed by in-depth conversations between Ukrainian and Dutch voices. Under the theme Away From Home, themes such as migration, displacement and identity are tangibly portrayed.
Kyiv Critics’ Week is one of Ukraine’s leading film festivals and, in collaboration with Dutch partners, is now bringing a series of impressive films to the big screen. Under the theme Away From Home, five feature films and three short films will be screened that poignantly explore the experience of emigration – from longing and loss to hope and redefinition of home. Each screening will be followed by a discussion between a Ukrainian and a Dutch film critic, who will reflect on the films and their current significance. The film selection shows how deeply the recent history of exile has shaped Ukrainian filmmaking. This programme offers a unique opportunity to connect two cultures through film and dialogue – and to reflect together on themes that affect us all.
