Kloofdichters - Van wie is de stad?

Poetry that grates and conversations that land. About dreams for your neighbourhood. Kloofdichters is a series of evenings where local talent bridges gaps. Between neighbourhoods. Between people. Between perspectives. You eat together, you listen together, you talk together. Different every edition. Every time a hit. With this edition spoken word artists Michline Plukken, Luc Howie Duzzith, chef tafelvanzeven and host Daniela Jerez.

We kick off Kloofdichters at a place where things are both tight and bright: Schiemond. A neighbourhood that is chafing. Where post-war social housing and brand-new luxury apartments just miss each other on the street. Schiehaven-Noord lies between these extremes: forgotten for years, now suddenly 'in development'. With sustainable dreams, inclusive ambitions and 'Paris Proof' labels. Nice. But we wonder: who is this city actually for?

The Rotterdam Architecture Month wants to 'test' this area. Together with local parties, the quay behind the Schiehavenhallen will be transformed into a vibrant festival location in June. Construction will be done with reused materials, toasts will be made with a view of the Maas, and experiments will be done with area development. But... who will reap the benefits? The residents of Schiemond? Or mainly the parties that benefit from the rising land value?

And yes, we, OASE, also ask ourselves that question. A neighborhood coffee on the menu is nice. And a neighborhood dinner every now and then is nice. But do we really close gaps with that? Or is that a nice story for ourselves?

That's why there is Kloofdichters.
