Heldendaad
HELDENDAAD is a compelling and personal theatre performance about adoption, told by two actors in an intimate setting. Based on the autobiographical story of Nelgina Khensani, the performance opens up the conversation about the emotional layers of adoptee and adoptive parent.
In HELDENDAAD you are taken into the layered, personal story of adopted Nelgina Khensani, who translates her experiences with intercultural adoption into a powerful theatrical narrative. In just 45 minutes, a world of hope, sadness, anger, love and loss unfolds - emotions that are often simultaneously present in adoption. The performance does not judge adoption, but shows what goes through people when their identity, origin and connection are under pressure. Guided by renowned theatre makers Joanne Purperhart, Maarten van Hinte and Marjorie Boston, a reflective experience is created that offers space for conversation and recognition. HELDENDAAD is both vulnerable and confrontational, and invites understanding between adopted child and adoptive parent. An honest, moving call for dialogue about what adoption really entails.
