Gratis Zaterdagworkshops bij Kunstinstituut Melly

Discover the colors of unspoken feelings in "The Colors of Silence": a free Saturday workshop at the Melly Art Institute on January 17, 2026, in which emotions are expressed through color, movement, and text.

Education & Participation Space

Since the opening of our Education & Participation Space , Kunstinstituut Melly has become a vibrant place for workshops, lectures, and collective learning experiences. Every Saturday, we organize free workshops, open to everyone, focusing on creativity, connection, and personal expression.

The Saturday workshops offer space for experimentation and connection. Participants explore storytelling, visual art, color, drawing, writing, and movement, contributing to a collective story archive, a living work of art where everyone's presence and voice are preserved. Each session also provides an opportunity to create a small personal memento: a symbolic key that invites reflection on one's own experience.

The Education & Participation Space serves as a place for learning, exchange, and collective imagination, where participants meet, share ideas, and explore new forms of creation together.

Workshop series — Nurdan Ariöz

In January 2026, the Saturday programming will feature a special series led by Nurdan Ariöz . This workshop series builds on her project Key Stories , in which she explores the in-between space, the place where meaning emerges through encounters.

Participants bring personal memories: a sound, a smell, a conversation, a passing moment. These are visualized through collage, drawing, color, writing, and intuitive movement, and brought together in a collective story archive. This creates a growing whole in which individual voices combine to form a living work of art.

In addition to the shared archive, participants also create a small personal object to take home, a tangible reminder of what has been shared and created.

The workshops are open to all ages (ages 4–8 welcome) and to participants with limited language skills. Facilitators provide oral support, visual translation, and adapted activities.

Workshop #3 — The Colors of Silence

What remains when words fail? In this workshop, you'll explore emotions and experiences that are difficult to put into words. Accompanied by music, you'll work with color and movement to express a feeling without language.

After this intuitive process, write one sentence: “This is what I couldn't say.”

This combination of image, movement, and text will be added to the story archive. As a tangible memento, you'll take home a fragment of your work: a soft key to what remains unspoken.
