Gratis zaterdagworkshop #4 — Meertalige poëzie (Poetic Diaspora) Poetic Diaspora
Free Saturday workshops at Melly Art Institute
Education & Participation Space
Since the opening of our Education & Participation Space, Kunstinstituut Melly has become a vibrant place for workshops, lectures, and collective learning experiences. Every Saturday, we organize free workshops, open to everyone, focusing on creativity, connection, and personal expression.
In January 2026, the Saturday workshops led by Nurdan Ariöz at Sleutelverhalen offered participants the opportunity to explore personal memories, images, and sounds. These were brought together in a collective story archive and small, tangible objects, inviting reflection on their own experiences and meanings.
The Saturday workshops in February 2026, led by Sabrina Schoop, offer participants in Poetic Diaspora the space to experiment with language, words, and personal memories.
The Education & Participation Space serves as a place for learning, exchange, and collective imagination, where participants meet, share ideas, and explore new forms of creation together.
Workshop series — Sabrina Schoop
In February 2026, Kunstinstituut Melly is organizing a special workshop series led by Sabrina Schoop. Poetic Diaspora explores language as something that moves between worlds. The series focuses on how words, memories, and experiences converge and can form new meanings.
Participants work with words from different languages and with personal, imagined, or inherited memories. By writing, cutting, rearranging, and imagining, poetic fragments emerge in which language, identity, and memory intertwine. Each session approaches language from a different perspective, with room for experimentation, interpretation, and personal development.
The workshop series requires no prior knowledge and is open to anyone curious about language, identity, and multilingualism. Poetic Diaspora offers a safe space to explore what "home" can mean, how memories are read, and how poetry can function as a bridge between places, times, and people.
Workshop #4 — Multilingual Poetry
This gathering focuses on multilingual poetry. Words from different languages are juxtaposed, translated, or deliberately left untranslated. Participants explore how multilingualism can function as a poetic force.
