How do stories shape us and the roles we play? Should we resist stereotypes, no matter how appealing the game of watching and being watched may be? What if the moth cannot resist the lure of the flame?
In GAZE , three women are exhibited in a gigantic terrarium. Trapped in a world where looking and being looked at is the standard, they investigate what role their body can, wants and may play (still) in their quest for recognition.
In this dance theatre performance, choreographer Laura Neyskens brings an overconfident ode to original sin and attacks the hypocrisy of virtue. Together with dramaturge Raphaël Vandeweyer, she goes in search of the power our body has. In a visual, anarchistic and poetic way, they investigate how dominant stories shape our body and what impact that has in a world in which we want to be seen above all.
