Foto-expositie, zachte plekken in een harde wereld
The photo series, consisting of seven portraits, is the result of an art project during the winter break in which the Maas Creators shaped their own safe world.
A world built on softness
During the school holidays, children from Delfshaven and the rest of the city work at the Maaspodium. As Maas Creators, they collaborate with professional artists. During the winter holidays, the theme of Home took center stage. Children explored the question: 'What does a place where you feel safe look like?'
Creating soft spots
Together with artists Peerke Malschaert , Pamela Schaap , and Issam Almiski , the children built a new society. They used fabrics they collected in Delfshaven. The foyer of the Maaspodium transformed into a world full of playfulness, softness, and imagination. This project stimulates creativity.
Inhabitants of their own world
The children not only made physical places, but also costumes from the fabrics. Photographer Lisette van Maanen captured them as inhabitants of this self-built world. Mohammad (12), one of the children portrayed, said: 'In my world there is only love to be found. That is why we chose red colours.'
Experience a soft place
You are welcome to visit the exhibition. Pause for a moment and experience a gentle spot in the heart of the city. The exhibition is on display on the facade of the Maaspodium; admission is free. Previously, the exhibition was on display on the construction fences along the Westzeedijk near the Pieter de Hoochweg. The canvases have been given a new location.
