Austrian creator Michael Zandl, known for the successful Sawdust Symphony, returns to Circusstad Festival with FOOD : a surprising and humorous performance about our endless hunger for more. Four young circus artists, Fidel Rott, Hedvig Brodén, Jakob Vöckler, and Karin Brodén, all graduates of Codarts Circus Arts in Rotterdam, transport you to an absurd world filled with food overload.
In a balanced mix of acrobatics, object manipulation, illusions, and all things edible, FOOD exposes our urge to consume in a comical yet confronting way. An everyday act like eating derails on stage into a near-obsessive ritual of piling up, stuffing, and swallowing until "enough" no longer exists. The performance playfully reflects the commercial temptations we all face. With FOOD , Michael Zandl delivers another unique show that you shouldn't miss. Surrealism at its finest in this disturbingly delicious circus experience that lingers long after the last bite has been taken.
