Fatilou m.
Fatilou M. is a compelling portrait of two young girls, told through theatre, film and music. A story about being seen, disappearing and the power of unexpected encounters in the classroom.
Rena is fourteen and has resigned herself to a life without expectations — until Fatilou appears in her class and turns everything upside down. When Fatilou disappears again, Rena is left with questions that turn her world upside down. Together with her class, she tries to understand what happened, and makes a film about the girl who briefly lit up and disappeared. Fatilou M. is a raw and poetic theater portrait in which film, live acting and music merge into a powerful whole. The performance is based on testimonies of young people in Antwerp vocational schools and was developed in collaboration with the Spectrumschool, where students also play a part. Directed by Bart Van Nuffelen and Fien Leysen, this third part of the triptych about urban youth is an honest and moving ode to young people who are looking for — and sometimes find — their place in an unpredictable world.
