Falling
Falling is a poetic dance performance about the power and vulnerability of falling. With swirling wind machines and physical precision it depicts the balance between control and surrender.
In Falling, choreographer Joop Oonk explores the physical and emotional dimensions of falling. On stage, dancers work with fans and wind machines to create a landscape of moving air currents, in which bodies swirl, float and crash. The performance plays with gravity and the thin line between control and loss, between freedom and fragility. Inspired by a personal experience after a traumatic event, Oonk shows how people respond to the sudden loss of certainty. The wind functions as a metaphor: invisible but all-determining, playful and destructive. Falling stimulates the senses, disrupts expectations and invites reflection on the vulnerability of existence. It is a sensory and tranquil choreography about the moment when everything tilts. A performance that touches, moves and breathes – literally.
