Deadlift Bashar Murkus

Bashar Murkus is a theatre maker known for his visual, cinematic style and compelling performances. His work focuses on social themes and gives a voice to the experiences of his people. In the performance DEADLIFT he collaborated with Al-Harah Theater and Boy Jonkergouw Productions. The inspiration came from the painting Jamal Al Mahamel by Suleiman Mansour, in which a man symbolically carries a city on his back. The performance explores the limits of human resilience. With a Palestinian cast and specially composed music, DEADLIFT is a powerful and poetic tribute to people who keep getting up despite everything.
