De Stille Vrouw Dilan Yurkadul - Via Rudolphi Producties
In The Silent Woman, Dilan gives a voice to her grandmothers. She contrasts the generation that left their homeland with a generation that was born in the Netherlands. She wonders what she still carries within her of these women, and what she will pass on.
Dilan Yurdakul lets the unheard voices of the first generation of Turkish migrant women sound. Stories from the past, about the silence, the sacrifices, the spiritual suffering, the waiting and the emptiness. What were their dreams, their desires? Were they able to spread their wings?
Dilan wants to know what has been won and lost, but also what is silently working through the female line. Because she too is confronted with her role as a woman. What choices does she make as a thirty-something, is she ready for motherhood and how much of a woman is she really still?
