De Nazaten

The name of this orchestra echoes the music of the harmony and fanfare corps, the TRIS band (Troepen In Suriname) and the police band of Paramaribo, but then of the music as it was played after the official program late in the evening and deep into the night. The repertoire originates from and elaborates on the many forms of world/wind music in which improvisation and danceability are paramount.

Music whose origins are not clearly traceable ('origin unknown'). Music that originated from the adultery of our royal ancestors and finds its crowning on the dance floor, where love blossoms, friendship is celebrated and differences in colour, position or origin do not matter.
