About Erwin Olaf

Erwin Olaf Springveld (1959 - 2023) is one of the most famous artists in the Netherlands. His work, especially photography, is characterized by staged settings and poses, in which he had every detail under control. In the eighties, Olaf became known for 'kinky photos, baroque fancy dress, fat women in bondage, and here and there an erection' (het Parool). Later, his work became more subdued and melancholic and he explored new themes such as loneliness, vulnerability and sadness.
