BioBlitz010
Rotterdam counts as much nature as possible for 24 hours. We call on everyone to count along.
On May 21, 2025, the Natural History Museum Rotterdam and Bureau Stadsnatuur will organize the third edition of the Rotterdam BioBlitz. A BioBlitz is a nature activity in which people try to find and record as many different species of plants and animals as possible in a certain area in a short period of time (usually 24 to 48 hours). Everyone can participate - from nature lovers to local residents - and together we will map biodiversity.
This year we want to pay extra attention to nature close to home – in front gardens, around street trees, between the paving stones and other green corners in the neighbourhood. It is precisely these small pieces of green that are of great value for biodiversity in the city. And for that we need the help of the residents.
Participating is very easy: you do not need any special knowledge about nature. Anyone who encounters a wild plant (garden plants do not count!), bird, insect or other organism in the municipality of Rotterdam on 21 May can report it via the free app ObsIdentify.
